General Questions
What does Arcoiris mean?
Arcoiris (ahr-kohee-rees) means rainbow in Spanish. Rainbows are a universal symbol of hope, rejuvenation, and new beginnings. We aim to give new beginnings to vintage textiles.
Why Arcoiris?
In 2022, I read a book called "Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe" by Laura Lynne Jackson. The book explains how if we are open to asking and recognizing signs from the universe, we will find meaning where anger and confusion often lie. The signs help us to pursue joy, celebrate life, and follow your highest path. I begged for a sign for months and got nada. Then suddenly on a work trip to Nashville, I saw 4 rainbows in 3 days - one in the sky as the plane landed in Nashville, a double rainbow while working, a rainbow on a book in the airport, and a rainbow when I landed back in Charleston. Since then, rainbows are seemingly everywhere reminding me to seek peace and pursue my highest path.
Is Arcoiris sustainable?
Yes! Arcoiris is completely sustainable. The jackets are sourced from vintage warehouses across the country, and the quilts are bought secondhand from small batch artisans. Sustainability is extremely important to the Arcoiris team and we aim to remain a sustainable, small batch business that protects the environment and those who produce the clothes. The process from sourcing to creation, is environmentally and socially sound.

Content and Care
Are all of your jackets vintage?
Yes! Arcoiris Denim sources 100% vintage denim jackets and quilts. The denim comes from Los Angeles, and the quilts are sourced from artisans all over the country. The quilts are handsewn and can be more than 100 years old. Each region of the United States has unique quilting traditions. We aim to celebrate the beautiful details of the craft of quilting.
What material are the jackets and quilts?
The jackets are vintage denim which is 100% cotton. Vintage denim has less stretch than modern denim. The fabric found in our quilts is typically 100% cotton. Because the quilts can be more than 100 years old, the cotton is delicate in nature. All of the jackets and quilts are prewashed before assembly.
How do I care for my jacket?
Due to the delicate nature of the quilts, we recommend spot treating the pieces. If absolutely necessary, the jackets can be VERY delicately handwashed in cold water and hung to dry. Creating beautiful jackets from existing materials is part of our sustainability mission, as is cutting down water consumption. Spot treating and hand washing is a sustainable and perfect way to keep your jacket in great condition.
Help! There is wear and tear on my jacket!
The quilts are delicate in nature. The quilts that we source can be hundreds of years old and with time comes general wear and tear. Every jacket will have a note if the quilts or denim is more delicate than normal in nature or has any imperfections. If you treat your jacket with care, it should last you decades. If you do not care and clean your jacket properly, the quilt pieces will degrade overtime. That is the nature of vintage pieces. If you want to replace your quilt pieces, we are happy to do so. Please email arcoirisdenim@gmail.com with concerns or restitching inquiries.
