WooWoo Summer Loading...

I am fully embracing the WooWoo this Summer 2K24 and loving it. I say "woowoo" all the time and my boyfriend constantly asks what the hell it means.

Via Wikipedia, it is described as, "A person readily accepting supernatural, paranormal, occult, or pseudoscientific phenomena, or emotion-based beliefs and explanations" I am not sure if that's exactly what I am aiming for but we will go with it...

My idea of WooWoo girl summer is living a natural, holistic, and authentic life. It is less screen time and more meditation time. It is less processed food and more make-your-own bread. It is less blue light and more sunlight. It is more reading and less doom scrolling. It is more fruit and less cocktails.

A few woowoo things I am doing this summer...

  1. Starting the Sourdough Journey (only 4 years late!) I am trying my hand at creating a sourdough starter, but I also bought the King Arthur Fresh Sourdough Starter if I royally screw up the homemade version.
  2. Educating myself about how to use fruits and vegetables as medicine. Let's get back to the basics and heal through food rather than chemicals and medicine. It's worked for hundreds of years, why stop now? This involves a small but mighty garden (see below for my first jalapeno) and lottttssss of fruits and veggies. I am trying to buy as much organic as possible and as little processed food as possible. Life Changing Foods by Anthony William is a super comprehensive, interesting read with a lot of woowoo power
  3. LESS CHEMICALS!!! Some easy ideas are...cleaning your food and house with vinegar and water, taking a break from nail polish, using mineral sunscreen, diffusing essentials oils instead of a burning a candle, growing some veggies, and sleeping with your phone in the corner of the room or out of the room. These easy, low tox ideas can build into bigger habits.
  4. Do something with your hands everyday. Start a new hobby - Needlepoint? Sew? Garden? Woodwork? Pottery? Paint? Draw? The world is your oyster. There is a scientistic link between creating something with your hands and decreased anxiety and depression (NYT Article).
  5. Get sunshine on your face (while wearing your SPF duh). Daily sunshine - even just a 20 minute walk after work - helps your circadian rhythm and calms the nervous system. We were not built to sit inside in chairs all day.

My first jalapeno harvested from the plant. Looking forward to more spicy guac and pickled jalapenos!
